External Sales Representative (Valves Sales, Valve Repair, Supply & Maintenance Services)Introduction

A National leading valve company that Sells, repair and maintain valves is urgently looking to employ an External Sales Representative.  The Sales Representative will be responsible for the generation and development of new business opportunities within the Key Accounts and National Government sectors. This position will be for a consummate and credible sales professional selling sophisticated valves solutions and services to Foreman’s ,Maintenance Managers ,Engineers ,Procurement people and Project Houses  of Major Business

Duties & Responsibilities

Generating sales for the company through meeting customers in person to identify their needs and close sales deals and maintaining good customer relationships. The role is focused primarily on building market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships on new business and in addition managing existing business relationships with JAG  Key Accounts, this position is suited to a person who is ‘sales hungry’ and who can exploit their exceptional sales skills with effective and successful results. Additionally to the new business role, the person will be required to do direct sales.

  • Identify and establish contact with potential customers AND Develop new business relationships, generate and negotiate new income for JAG to an agreed annual target of invoiced revenue, to increase year on year.Schedule and perform product demonstrations with potential customers AND Present  JAG to potential clients through direct communication in face to face meetings, telephone calls and emails
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers.
  • Attend industrial trade shows to identify potential sales leads and make meaningful contact with existing customers.
  • Follow industry trends to identify new opportunities for potential sales.
  • Recommend marketing strategies to target a specific region or demographic.
  • Ensure that correct quantities of stock are available.
  • Have suitable/extensive knowledge on all stock items (training will be provided)
  • Keep abreast of new products, market conditions, advertising, and promotional trends through discussions with Manager.
  • Traveling to assigned territories to meet potential & current clients.
  • Negotiating sales contracts
  • Generate and submit sales reports to management.
  •  Spend 75% of time out of the office in meetings developing new business opportunities. Travel is a major factor and is predicted to be predominantly within SA with some overnight stops.
  •  Be responsible for own lead generation and appointment setting
  • Actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; close; in close cooperation with the MD,
  • Manage and maintain a pipeline of potential business and ensuring all sales administration is current and up to date at all times.
  •  Create and be accountable for all client proposals, contracts and any further documentation, following JAg procedure
  •  Have a thorough understanding of clients marketing objectives
  •  Respond to tenders and requests for information in a timely and accurate manner

Administration

  • Enter and update customer information in the database
  • Keep records of calls and sales and note useful information
  • Handle customer grievances to preserve the company’s reputation
  • Go the “extra mile” to meet sales quota and facilitate future sales
  • Always try to increase the orders with clients regarding unknown products.

Teamwork

  • Support department managers and co employees.
  • Actively participate as a member of the team
  • Performing any other task, not specified herein, which from time to time may be assigned by the manager.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree preffered BUT Not mandatory
  • Experience in Technical Sales Mandatory
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand  English
  • Proven experience as an external Sales Representative
  • Proven track record of successfully meeting sales quota

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Good knowledge of relevant sales programs and telephone systems
  • Ability to learn about products and services and describe/explain them to prospective clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Cool-tempered and able to handle rejection
  • Outstanding negotiation skills with the ability to resolve issues and address complaints
